Winter Tips for Smooth Cruising
Winter in Washington: rain is pelting the streets and black ice is carpeting the roads making your commute a treacherous one. It’s this time of year that you need your car in prime condition and ready for whatever the road throws your way. Evergreen AutoWorks has put together a list of ways to keep your car in tip-top shape for the winter. Click here for a list of their auto body and repair services.
- Battery and Charging System – When it’s cold out, cars can have trouble starting without a full battery. Don’t get caught in the snow and make sure your mechanic checks your battery, and if necessary, replaces it.
- Tires – Your tires may not be suited to icy conditions. Even if you have snow or all-weather tires, make sure to check the tread to make sure they are getting optimal traction. For the record, any tread less than 3/32 of an inch means the tire should be replaced. Don’t forget to check your tire pressure too! When its cold out, tire pressure drops. The rule of thumb is that pressure will decrease 1 PSI for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit drop. Be smart and pack snow chains! You never know what the road ahead has in store.
- Brakes – Perhaps its obvious, but you should never leave your brakes to chance when its slippery out there.
- Washer Fluid – What’s the most important asset you have when you’re driving? Your vision! Make sure your window washer fluid has antifreeze components to keep your windshield clear and your eyes on the road.
In the event that all these precautions fail and you wind up in an accident, Evergreen AutoWorks has your back with auto repair and mechanics you can count on. Get in touch with them for an Auto Body Shop you can trust!
