I asked for an A/C recharge and they tried to upsell me on over $3000 worth of unnecessary service. They told me my A/C compressor was broken and they removed a part without putting it back and left my compressor in a vacuum state. I took my car to get a second opinion. The verdict was that the A/C unit was fine after the shop re-installed my removed part - I just needed a recharge. Be skeptical of generic positive reviews when you shop for the right mechanic. Just because a shop has some good reviews and the reps are friendly does not mean they won't try and upsell you. Unknowing reviewers often believe they were "taken care of" after being convinced and agreeing to unnecessary service, which is the exact kind of negative reinforcement that incentivizes mechanics to continue this unethical behavior.
Hello Jake, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I would like to clarify the events of your visit to our shop. You came in because your A/C was not working. We found the compressor clutch laying on the subframe upon arrival. We did not remove it. This is an indication of a part failure. We recommended replacing the compressor and clutch assembly. We are not in the habit of putting on a known failed part back on a car. You took the car to another shop, and they reinstalled the defective clutch, then serviced the system. We do not believe this is a permanent repair, and the clutch more than likely will fail again. Concerning the maintenance needs of the car. We do a thorough courtesy inspection. It is our responsibility to let customers know what's needed with their cars. Your 2014 Ford Fusion is in good condition. It had 95544 miles on it when it was here. We found the following items and brought them to your attention. The transmission fluid is dirty. You stated you just had it serviced. We have found that a lot of shops will not flush the fluid completely. They will dump out what comes out of the drain plug. We flush the fluid until it is clean. This sometimes can take up to 16 quarts of fluid. The coolant in your Ford calls to be replaced every 5 year or 100k miles. Has your coolant system been serviced in that timeline? There are low voltage codes stored in your computer, your battery is 4 year old. We recommend replacing the battery, due to the low voltage codes stored. We found both license plate bulbs burnt out. We found oil leaking from the valve cover gasket, and possible other leaks. We recommend replacing the valve cover gasket then cleaning the engine and retesting. In conclusion we are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. We would be happy to refund the $94.12 that you paid for the inspection. Bret
